Unit 2 Links
Unit Introduction
Unit 2 explores the Greek and Roman, or Classical, civilizations. Greek philosophy, art, and politics form the very cornerstone of Western Civilization. Greek culture, under Alexander the Great, also spread east to the edges of India. The Romans later adopted much of Greek civilization as they built an empire which stretched from Scotland to Egypt and from the Atlantic to the Persian Gulf. The Roman Empire collapsed in the West during the 5th century AD but survived in the East until 1453 AD! The glory and greatness of Rome echoes loudly through the centuries and its continuing legacy can still be realized heavily today.
